Introducing Film IQ: The Ultimate Playground for Cinephiles

While I spend most of my professional life deep-diving into Microsoft Intune and enterprise automation, I’ve always had a passion for cinema. That passion eventually led to the creation of Film IQ—a dedicated hub for movie lovers to test their knowledge, discover new films, and compete in daily challenges.

In this post, I want to take a look at what makes Film IQ special and the different ways you can put your movie expertise to the test.

What is Film IQ?

Film IQ is a collection of interactive movie trivia games designed for everyone from the casual viewer to the hardcore film historian. It’s built to be fast, modern, and—above all—addictive.

Whether you have five minutes to spare for a daily challenge or want to lose an hour in an "Endless" session, there's a mode for you.

I’ve built several distinct game modes, each testing a different "cinema muscle":

1. The Daily Challenge

This is the heart of the community. Every day, every player around the world gets the exact same movie mystery to solve. You get a series of clues—ranging from obscure frames to actor hints—and your goal is to identify the movie in as few guesses as possible.

Pro Tip: Aim for a "First Guess" win to climb the global leaderboard!

2. Guess the Poster

One of the most popular modes. We take iconic (and some not-so-iconic) movie posters and either pixelate, blur, or crop them. Can you identify the film just from its color palette and composition?

3. Box Office: Higher or Lower

Think you know your blockbuster history? In this mode, we pit two movies against each other, and you have to guess which one raked in more at the worldwide box office. It’s harder than it sounds—sometimes that 90s cult classic actually outearned a modern sleeper hit!

4. Guess the Rating

How well do you align with the critics? We show you a film, and you have to guess its critical or audience reception score. It’s a great way to see if your favorite "guilty pleasure" really was as panned as you remember.

5. Endless Trivia

For those who just can't get enough. A continuous stream of questions covering directors, actors, release years, and behind-the-scenes facts.

Why I Built It

Building Film IQ was a chance for me to combine my love for the "Silver Screen" with my passion for modern web performance. I wanted a site that felt incredibly snappy, works perfectly on mobile, and provides a clean, focused experience without unnecessary clutter.
